Advancement of ConfeBID09: the state of CSR in Latam

As an exclusive preview of the VII Inter-American Conference on CSR in Punta del Este, especially for those who do not attend, since this blog we provide for consultation of all stakeholders in CSR study The State of Corporate Social Responsibility under the executives look to companies in Latin America 2009 published by the Business Forum.

This document is the result of a study conducted during 2009, involving 529 business executives representing 14 economic sectors and 15 countries.

The study covered the following dimensions:

1. Decision Making and Transparency

2. Community Relations

3. Environment

4. Consumers and / or Users

5. Relationship with Employees

6. Future projections. This last dimension was incorporated to meet the impacts of international financial crisis of 2008 in CSR plans for the following years.

40% of participating companies publish a sustainability report, 31% of these reported using the GRI methodology, and 42% invites interest groups to participate in drafting the report.

Companies that adhere to CSR promotion organizations are mainly companies from more than 500 employees.

Of the five dimensions of CSR studied, executives participating in this study considered

That the most advanced in their businesses is "relationship with workers," follow "users and users", "community relations" and "environment".

The dimensions that are considered the least advanced were "making decisions" and

"Transparency".

The launch of this study will be held on December 3 at the seventh Conference of the IDB ,
